Ishwardi Paul Sweets fined for selling rotten, stale sweets

The Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection has fined Ishwardi’s Paul Sweets for selling moldy and stale sweets in a dirty environment. It was also fined for selling color chips at Sujan store.
On Thursday (November 30) morning, under the leadership of Assistant Director of Pabna District Consumer Rights Protection Directorate, Mahmudul Hasan Roni, the operation was conducted at Paul Sweets and Sujan Store adjacent to gate number one of Ishwardi Bazar. A fine of 5,000 taka was collected from the owner of Paul Sweets, Madhav Chandra Paul, and 2,000 taka from the owner of Sujan Store.
Mahmudul Hasan Roni, assistant director of the Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection, said that during raids at Pal Sweets, moldy and stale sweets were seized in a dirty environment. The store’s sweets and confectionery products did not have manufacturing and expiry dates written on the wrappers.
