Mobile soil testing begins in 3 districts

The Soil Resource Development Institute (SRDI) has begun mobile soil testing in three districts of the area during the Robi season.

According to the Regional Office of Jamalpur, with a view to increase the production by applying proper dose of fertilizer, mobile soil testing laboratory began work on November 20.

The mobile laboratory will collect soil sample in the filed level area in Netrokona Sadar Upazila, Jhenaigati and Nalitabari Upazila in Sherpur district and Islampur and Dewanganj Upazila in Jamalpur district.

The mobile team consisted with three Scientific Officers and three Laboratory Attendants will stay three to four days in each Upazila and after soil testing, will distribute fertilizer recommendation card among the farmers.

Principal Scientific Officer of the SRDI AKM Murshedur Rahman said the aim of the programme is to reduce misuse of fertilizer, protect soil health and recommend proper dose of fertilizer.

He said in this way farmers will get 20 to 25 percent more yield.
