DB arrests four Juba Dal men in Jatrabari

Four leaders and activists of Juba Dal have been arrested by Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on charge of torching a minibus in the capital’s Jatrabari area.

The arrestees have been identified as Md Dulu, 44, secretary of Ward 20 Juba Dal, Md Joynal Abedin, member of Dhaka City (South) Juba Dal, Md Abbas Ali, 32, and Md Abdul Latif Biplab, 33.

Harun Or Rashid, additional commissioner (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed the matter during a press conference at its office in Minto Road area on Monday noon.

He said Wari Division of the DB detained four individuals within five minutes of the minibus of Moumita Paribahan being set ablaze around 7:35 pm in the Kazla area of Jatrabari.

“During the interrogation, the arrested individuals confessed to their affiliation with Jubo Dal, acknowledging their roles as leaders and activists within the organisation,” said Harun.

He said that the arrestees even admitted to sending images of the arson attack to Rabiul Islam Nayan, member secretary of Jubo Dal’s Dhaka south unit, and other leaders.

The arrestees would be taken on remand for further interrogation to ascertain other locations where similar incidents may have occurred, the DB chief added.
