7 vehicles torched across country

At least seven vehicles, including five passenger buses, were torched across the country on Monday, the second day of seventh phase of countrywide blockade enforced by BNP and its allies.
In Dhaka, unidentified miscreants set fire on a passenger bus of Baishakhi Paribahan in the capital’s Shyamoli area on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4pm.
Two units of the fire fighters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze, said Shahjahan Sikder, deputy assistant director (media cell) at Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence.
In Natore, miscreants set fire on three buses that were parked at a filling station in Mohishbhanga area beside Bonpara-Hatikumrul highway in Boraigram upazila of Natore on Monday morning.
The incident took place around 5:00 am. Boraigram police station officer in-charge (OC) Shafiul Azam confirmed the matter to the media saying that three buses were parked at Patwari Filling station as usual.At the time, miscreants set fire on the vehicles.
Later, fire service units rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control. Police are working to identify and arrest the arsonists, OC added.
In Rajshahi, miscreants have intercepted a goods-laden truck and set the vehicle on fire at Kajla area of city in the early hours of Monday.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Motihar Police Station Ruhul Amin confirmed the matter to the media and said that three firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the fire.
Police are working to identify those involved in the incident, analyzing the CCTV footage nearby, the OC added.
In Habiganj, miscreants have set a running truck on fire in Habiganj Sadar upazila on Monday morning during the seventh phase of 48-hour countrywide blockade enforced by BNP and its like-minded parties.
The goods-laden truck was set ablaze around 8:30am, said Ajay Chandra Dev, officer-in-charge (OC) of Habiganj Sadar Police Station.
The truck and goods inside the vehicle have been burnt to ashes in the fire, OC said.
