Tigers-Kiwis 1st Test begins today

Bangladesh Cricket team will take on New Zealand Cricket team in their first Test match, which will begin today at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

The first day of the match will start at 9.30am (Bangladesh Standard Time).

Private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match live.

The Tigers will face the Kiwis in the second Test, which will start on December 6 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur.

The two Test matches are the part of ICC World Test Championship.

Before the first game, Bangladesh and New Zealand played each other in the 17 occasions. Of them, New Zealand recorded 13 victories, while Bangladesh won one match and rest of the three matches ended in draws.

Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan cannot take part in the upcoming Test match due to injury. Prolific batter Litton Das will not take part in the ensuing Test match due to personal reasons.

He is now in recess. Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal cannot take part in the forthcoming Test match. Pacers Taskin Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain have been ruled out from the series due to injury.

Without the experienced key players, Bangladesh will play against New Zealand. Promising Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead Bangladesh team as the Captain of the Tigers.

Captain of Bangladesh Cricket team Najmul Hossain Shanto said, “We are like that kind of team, which can win at home soil.

We give priority to win matches at home against any team. After that, we shall try to give fight against the opponents at abroad.”

Shanto said, “New Zealand are good side. They are challenging and stronger team. As the match will be held at home soil, we have good spinners and batters to play as good side.

If we can play according to plan, we can beat this team. We have planned to win the two Test matches. We believe that we can beat them and we shall play to win. Everyone of our team have that confidence.”

Captain of New Zealand Cricket team Tim Southee said, ” It will not be easy to collect point from these matches, which are part of ICC World Test Championship. Bangladesh are good side. Specially in this condition. It will be a hard-fought series.”

Southee said, ” Shakib Al Hasan is a great player for a long time. He is a great Bangladeshi cricketer for a long period. Litton Das is also a class player. Earlier, he played well against us. Bangladesh may miss them.”
