Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – yesterday plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 4.11 points or 0.07 percent to 6,229.59. Two other indices also ended sharply lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 1.29 point to finish at 2,105.43 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 1.15 point to close at 1,351.39, reports BSS.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, increased to Taka 5,491.07 million, which was Taka 3,703.80 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 327 issues traded, 93 declined, 53 advanced and 181 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor. GQBALLPEN topped the turnover chart, followed by DOMINAGE, GENINEXT, CENTRALPHL and AFTAABAUTO.
GQBALLPEN was the day’s top gainer, posting 9.96 percent gain while ERERALDOIL was the worst loser, losing 9.74 per cent. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -losing 9.88 points to settle at 18,485.91 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX shedding 7.07 points to close at 11,054.09.
