Two minors drown in Fatikchhari pond

Two minor girls drowned in a pond in Bhaktapur union of Chattogram’s Fatikchhari upazila on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Tabassum, 9, daughter of late Azam Khan and Wajiha, 6, daughter of Md Nasir of Jahanpur area of the upazila.

Mubarak Ali, UP member of Ward No. 5 of Bhaktapur Union, said Tabassum’s father died of cancer 40 days ago.

Relatives arranged a ritual today in memory of his departure.

After they were not found despite searching, family members spotted them floating in a pond near their home around 12: 30pm.

Later, they with help of locals rescued the girls and took them to the Upazila Health Complex where doctors pronounced them dead, he added.
