Ishwardi buyers happy, farmers disappointed

Within a few days, the price of eggs has fallen drastically.

The price of each farm egg has come down to Tk. 4-5. While common buyers are happy as the price of eggs has come down, the farmers are disappointed.

The price of eggs is decreasing rapidly. In the wholesale market, the price of a dozen eggs is 108 taka.

And retail is selling at 120 taka.

Farmers say that the price of chicken feed and medicine is not rising with the money of selling eggs.

It will be difficult to sustain the farm due to the increase in the price of chicken feed, chicks, medicine, labor wages, farm building materials.

The production cost of each egg is 10 taka.

Buyers say that when the price of eggs was increased through manipulation, farmers made huge profits. And we common buyers have suffered.

Due to the effect of imports and reduced demand, the price of eggs has decreased in the country’s market.

It is known that the price of eggs has been increasing since the last four months without any reason. In wholesale, a dozen eggs are 160 taka, that is, the price of each egg rises to 13.50 taka.

In the retail market, a dozen eggs were sold at 180 taka, i.e. 15 taka each.

In this situation, even after the government fixed the retail price of each egg at 12 taka in the middle of September, the price did not decrease.

On November 5, 61 thousand 950 eggs were imported into the country through a consignment of eggs from India. Since then, the price of eggs has started to decrease rapidly.

Traders claim that the price has decreased due to the increase in the supply of eggs in the market.

Stating that the price of eggs has not decreased due to import, the wholesalers said that the price has decreased due to the decrease in the demand in the market.

Now that the supply of winter vegetables has increased in the market, the pressure on eggs has eased.

On Tuesday morning, Khairul, an egg farmer at College Road, said that due to the increase in imports in the market, he is now selling 30 eggs for 270 taka each, i.e. 9 taka each. And in the retail market it is being sold at 10-11 taka each.

Regarding the decrease in the price of eggs, he said that this situation has arisen due to the increase in imports.

Akmal Hossain, General Secretary of Pabna District Poultry Association, said that according to the market price, the farmers are selling at the price of Tk 860-870 Hundred egg .

Before this, the price of food increased a lot, but now it has decreased again.

However, the production cost of each egg for farmers is about 10 taka. Farmers are in bad condition due to heavy losses.

The last few days have been good with the increase in the price of eggs.

Farmers were becoming self-reliant after overcoming the previous situation. In this way, with another 4-5 months, every farmer would have recovered from the earlier losses.

Abdul Mannan, an employee of the electricity department, said that the price of eggs was increased by syndicate in the global economic situation.

The price of everything from vegetables was skyrocketing. In the meantime, due to the increase in the price of eggs, common people like me have been suffering with family and friends.

Regarding the loss of farmers, he said that the price of eggs they got will be able to eat for the next few years.
