People will resist one-sided poll : IJAB

Staff Reporter :
Leaders of Islami Juba Andolan Bangladesh (IJAB) have said that the government is pushing the country to the edge of an inevitable destruction through the arrangement of a one-sided election.

They said that people will resist the blue print of holding unilateral and farcical election orchestrated by the government.

The remarks came during a rally organised by the Islami Juba Andolan Bangladesh to protest the one-sided announcement of election schedule for the 12th parliamentary election on January 7.

The rally was presided over by Maulana Mohammad Al Amin Sohag, vice president of Dhaka South, and Maulana Hammad Bish Mosarrof, General Secretary of Dhaka North, moderated it.

“The one-sided election under the incumbent government is paving the path for an inevitable destruction for the people of Bangladesh. The government has been waging a war against the patriotic people through the schedule announcement,” they said.

“It is synonymous with autocracy to hold election without any dialogue with the political parties. Besides, the Election Commission, led by Habibul Awal, is acting as an associate in this autocratic endeavour. This fraudulent vote-rigging government will soon face the ultimate destruction,” they said.

In his address, Maulana Mohammad Nesar Uddin, the Central President of the Islami Jubo Andolan Bangladesh, said that Ameer of Islami Andolan called for the formation of a national government during election, but the call has been rejected.

“Ignoring that advice has brought the country to its current dire situation.

The opportunity still exists for the government to resolve problems through dialogue with opposing parties. If the government does not show wisdom soon, the Awami League will be erased from the country’s map,” he said.
