Staff Reporter, Mymensingh :
Zia Parishad, Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Unit, Mymensingh condemned the mass arrest of BNP activists and leaders of many professional bodies.
President of Zia Parishad, BAU Unit, Prof Dr. Md. Abdul Quddush and General Secretary Prof Dr. Mohammad Samshul Alam Bhueya in a statement said, on October 28, 2023, BNP organized a general meeting as always with the aim of establishing people’s voting rights and bringing back democracy. But the government loyal overzealous police as per their pre-plan used tear shells, rubber bullets, bullets, water cannons and sound grenades on the innocent crowd without provocation to break up the mass gathering. Instantly creates a dire situation that is repugnant to democratic expression and abhorrent.
Based on this issue, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, members of the Standing Committee and leaders and activists of all levels are being arrested, raids are being done in almost all houses, family members of disappearance cases are being tortured indescribably. We strongly condemn the suppression and diversion of rational and popular movement through nefarious activities.
