Inflation jumps to 9.93 pc in October

The country’s inflation rate rose to 9.93 percent in October from 9.63 percent in September, according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) data released on Monday.

In October, food inflation went up by 12.56 percent from 12.37 percent a month earlier, while non-food inflation increased to 8.30 percent from 7.82 percent in September.

Since last March, inflation has consistently remained above 9 percent, significantly affecting the cost of living, particularly for the low-income groups.

Earlier in September this year, The general point-to-point inflation rate eased slightly in September as it reached 9.63 percent down from 9.92 percent in August, 2023 mainly due to the slight downtrend in both food and non-food inflation.
