Prof Maksud Kamal takes charges of DU VC

Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal joined his office on Saturday as acting vice-chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) replacing Prof Akhtaruzzaman at the end of his tenure.

Former Vice-Chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman handed over the responsibility to former Pro-Vice Chancellor ASM Maksud Kamal at the Vice-Chancellor’s office in the morning.

Pro-Vice Chancellor (administration) Muhammad Samad, Treasurer Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed along with deans of different Faculties, provosts of halls, DU Teachers Association and Awami League backed DU Blue panel teachers were present there and congratulated the VC.

Earlier, President Md Shahabuddin, also chancellor of the university, appointed him as the 29th Vice-Chancellor of DU as per the 1973 ordinance of the university.

Maksud Kamal, Prof of Disaster and Climate Resilience Department, had been serving as the Pro-vice Chancellor (academic) of the university since 2020 and has also held academic and administrative responsibilities at almost all levels of the university.
