ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup: India keep all-win record defeating England

India kept their all-win record in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup defeating defending champions England by 100 runs in their sixth match at Luknow in India on Sunday.

Sent into bat first, India notched up 229 for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 50 overs and then bundled out England for 129 runs off 34.5 overs.

India have taken the top spot of the points table collecting 12 points from six matches, while England remained with two points from as many outings.

India lost early three wickets for 40 runs.

Opener Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul mended the innings contributing together 91 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Rahul was caught at the mid-on by Jonny Bairstow off David Willey when India’s score was 131 for the loss of four wickets.

Rohit Sharma was caught at the deep midwicket by Liam Livingston off Adil Rashid when India’s score 164 for the loss of five wickets.

Rohit hit a captain’s knock of 87. His 101-ball innings was laced with 10 fours and three sixers.

He was adjudged the Man of the Match for his match-winning innings.

Suryakumar Yadav was caught at point by Chris Woakes off David Willey when India’s total was 208 for the loss of eight wickets.

Suryakumar notched up a marvelous 49.

He hit four fours and a sixer in his 47-ball knock Rahul made 39 from 58 deliveries including three fours.

David Willey grabbed three wickets in the space of 45 runs, while Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid bagged a pair of wickets each instead of 33 runs respectively.

Later, the English batters failed to resist tight, controlled and superb bowling attack of Indian bowlers.

No English batter could make a respectable score.

Pacers Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah played the key role in demolishing England innings with a good support of spinner Kuldeep Yadav and spinner Ravindra Jadeja.

Shami harpooned four wickets in the space of 22 runs, while Bumrah claimed three wickets at the cost of 32 runs and Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets giving 24 runs and Jadeja took one wicket for 16 runs.
