Political landscape boiling up centering Oct 28 BNP rally

Staff Reporter  :
The country’s political landscape has again overcharged with rhetoric and apprehensions of mayhem centering October 28 grand rally in the capital convened by the main opposition political party-Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

The ruling Awami League said that BNP may resort to violence on the day under the cover of their political programme, but BNP has brushed aside the allegation.

The government has already started taking various measures what they said that they would guard BNP on the day by holding their peace rally to avert any sort of violence unleashed by BNP.

On the other hand, the law enforcers including Rapid Action Battalion and Police have already set up check posts on different entry points to the capital to fend off any kind of untoward incidents.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Wednesday said that the government would not prevent BNP to hold their programmes if they peacefully carry out it.

“The law enforcers including RAB would remain alert to protect the lives and properties of the people centering the BNP’s programme. Check posts would be set up,” he told the journalists at his office at the Secretariat.

He further said, “The government is not anything like that it would fall by a push. A democratic government is in power through democratic means. The law enforcers would carry out their duties.”

Apart from the law enforcers pre-emptive measures, the ruling Awami League has also taken preparations to remain in the field on Oct 28 to prevent, what they say, any kind of violence unleashed by the BNP.

Awami League has already urged their leaders and activists to remain vigilant on the day of BNP’s grand rally in Naya Paltan in front of their party headquarters.

The BNP is holding the grand rally as part of their demand for a non-partisan caretaker government and the dissolution of the parliament.
