Debt ridden trader commits suicide

Police recovered the body of a trader Khandkar Morshed Jaber from Gulshan Baridhara Lake in the capital on Thursday. It is initially believed that Jaber may have committed suicide due to severe financial hardship.

The deceased used to livewith his family in Baridhara Park Road area. He was a businessman by profession.

Sheikh Sahanur Rahman, Inspector (investigation) of Gulshan police station, confirmed the matter to The New Nation saying that police recovered Jaber’s body from Gulshan Baridhara Lake on Thursday afternoon on the information of cleaners of the lake.

According to the diseased family sources, Jaber had been suffering from an acute mental stress for a long time as he incurred huge loss in business. Being failed to withstand the burden of unbearable debt, he lost metal balance.

Even we didn’t get any sign of attack on the deceased body in the autopsy report, the police inspector said.

As a result, it is believed that he may have committed suicide.

Family didn’t file any case in this incident. However, an unnatural death has been filed in this regard, the police official added.

Earlier, Jaber left home around 4 am. Since then there was no trace of him.

Around noon, his father Khandaker Rashedul Hasan was preparing to report to Gulshan police station. At that time, the police received the news of a floating body in the lake. Accordingly, they rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
