Chief Justice sits with senior jurists to make long-term judicial planning

Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan on Thursday said he would collect opinions and proposals from every stakeholder step by step to prepare a long-term planning for the judiciary.

He said this in a view exchange meeting with the current and former Attorney Generals and Presidents and Secretaries of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).

The meeting was held in the conference room of the Supreme Court to ‘make a long-term judicial planning’.

Appellate Division judges Justice M Enayetur Rahim, Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam, Justice Md Abu Zafor Siddique, Justice Jahangir Hossain, former Presidents of the SCBA Dr Kamal Hossain, Advocate M Amir-ul Islam, Barrister Mainul Hosein, Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun, former Attorney Generals Advocate AF Hassan Ariff and Advocate Fida M Kamal, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin, SCBA President Advocate Momtazuddin Fakir, Additional Attorney Generals SM Munir, Sheikh Mohammad Morshed, Mohammad Medehi Hasan Chowdhury, SCBA Secretary Md Abdun Nur Dulal, among others, were present at the meeting.

Chief Justice appealed for cooperation from the senior jurists of the country in the meeting.

He said, “We will collect opinion and proposals from every stakeholder step by step. We will prepare a plan after discussing, reviewing and scrutinising those opinions and proposals.”

Referring to everyone’s desire for a beautiful, capable and active judiciary, the Chief Justice said, “I know that our plan will not be perfect, but there must be a plan to move forward. We will leave this plan as a guideline for future generations. Much of this will help them on their way.”
