JU students seize buses again

Jahangirnagar University students on Saturday seized at least seven buses of a transport company plying on the Dhaka-Aricha highway amid an altercation over bus fare with a student of the university.

The protesting students claimed that a staffer of the transport company, Labbayek Paribahan, misbehaved with one of their fellows, Shuvra Saha, of the fine arts department while he demanded half fare, reports media.

The staffs of the Labbayek Paribahan always misbehave with the students over trifling matters, a protesting student said, adding that they demanded safe transportation and legal right of half fare.

A staffer of Labbayek Paribahan, Aminul Islam, said that they always tried to behave nicely with the students, but seizing random buses for any individual’s fault was harassment to them.
