One held over attacking Barishal police sergeant’s wife

A youth was arrested after wife of a police sergeant came under attack by gang of teenagers. Officer in charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station Anwar Hossain said that members of a teenagers-gang attacked Sifat Jahan Mim, wife of Metropolitan Police Sergeant Muhammad Tutul at the helipad area of Bangabandhu Udyan on Thursday (October 12) night.
Then the victim of the attack filed a case against the youths, including the son of Zainul Abedin, councilor of Ward No.10 of Barishal City Corporation.
Then police arrested 16-year-old boy Ashraful in a drive for his involvement in the attack. The victim of the attack said she with her elder sister, their son and daughter and some girlfriends were staying at the helipad of Bangabandhu Udyan at around 8:30 pm on Thursday.
After sometimes some teenagers came there and started to take drugs.
The gang made obscene gestures and tried to abuse them.
A teenager kicked her and threw on the road.
The other visitors of that area rescued Mim.
After some time Ashraful, son of Councilor No. 10 Zainal Abedin tried to attack the second time with a group.
But as the police came there, they fled.
When asked about this, Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner Fazulal Karim told five persons of a ‘Kishore Gang’ and 20 others unnamed were accused in the case.
Those involved in the incident would be identified and brought under the law.
