Capital plunges into severe traffic jams

Traffic jams in the capital on the first and last working days of the week are a constant companion.
After the office on the last working day, many people hurriedly left for different destinations.
At this time, the pressure of vehicles on the road increases rapidly creating a severe traffic jam.
The city dwellers on Thursday had to encounter a long tailback since 8 in the morning morning.
On the day, Dhaka experienced a severe traffic congestion on several key routes.
During the period, the city dwellers faced severe traffic jams on the roads major city points, including Manik Mia Avenue, Khamarbari, Bijoy Sarani, Farmgate and Mohakhali areas.
Similar gridlocks plagued areas like Kawran Bazar, Banglamotor, Shahbagh, Moghbazar, Malibagh, Kakrail and Gulistan as well.
As a result, the city people are facing a miserable life due to the daily severe traffic jams.
Valuable time of commuters is wasted due to the traffic jams in the overcrowded capital.
Office-goers and city dwellers have alleged that they get stuck in traffic jams every morning to evening.
Many students and office-goers are late to reach their educational institutions and workplaces respectively.
Every Thursday witnesses terrible traffic jams as it is the last day of a week before the two-day (Friday and Saturday) weekly holiday.
Milon Madbar, a businessman and resident of Danmondi area in the capital, said the major problem of the capital is now the traffic jam.
It seems that we will never get rid of traffic jam anymore. That’s why we
cannot expect better things from the government.
Another commuter Md Al Amin, who boarded a passenger bus at 11am, found himself stranded at Khamarbari for two hour.
He expressed his frustration, stating that if the traffic remained as bad as it was, he would not reach his destination before noon.
In this regards, Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Traffic Division said that people go to different destinations on the last working day of the week.
This creates huge traffic jams in the capital.
Apart from this, VIP movement frequently creates traffic jams in the capital.
