Brazilian World Cup winner Ronaldinho set to travel to the country, where he has numerous fans, for the first time.
The former Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Barcelona star has confirmed his visit to Dhaka, tentatively on October 18.
It has also been learned that the possible activities for Ronaldinho’s short trip are currently in the planning stage, which is delaying the official announcement.
Satadru Dutta, a Bangali sports promoter and business entrepreneur who previously brought Pele and Diego Maradona to Kolkata and Argentine World Cup winner Emiliano Martinez to the Bangladesh capital, has initiated efforts to bring Ronaldinho to Kolkata and Dhaka before the Durga Puja next month.
He has confirmed to Dhaka Tribune the Brazilian legend’s visit to the capital of Bangladesh but has not been able to fix the exact date of arrival.
“Ronaldinho has given his consent to tour Kolkata and Dhaka, but we need a few more days to confirm the exact date.”
After starting his career with Brazilian club Gremio, Ronaldinho joined PSG a year before the 2002 World Cup triumph.
He later played for Barca for five years before moving to AC Milan.
Ronaldinho spent the latter years of his playing career in Brazil, Mexico and India before officially hanging up his boots in 2018.
