Bangladesh-NZ match today

Bangladesh will face New Zealand (NZ) in their third match of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s World Cup at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai of India today.

The Day/Night affair will start at 2.30pm (Bangladesh Standard Time).

Private satellite channel GYV, private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match live.

New Zealand made a formidable start in this year’s ICC World Cup as the Kiwis defeated the defending champions England by nine wickets in the opening match on October 5.

New Zealand retained their winning streak as the Black Caps thrashed Netherlands by 99 runs in their second match on October 9.

Bangladesh had an auspicious start as the Tigers thrashed Afghanistan by six wickets in their first match on October 7.

Bangladesh failed to keep their winning row as they suffered a 137-run defeat to England in their second match on October 10.

Before today’s match, the Tigers and the Kiwis faced each other in 41 One Day International (ODI) matches.

Of them, Bangladesh registered 10 victories, while New Zealand won in 30 occasions and rest of the one match ended without any result.

Captain of Bangladesh Cricket team Shakib Al Hasan said, ” It is a mega tournament.

We have to advance.

We have to play some imminent tough matches.

We have to go forward and show positive approach.”

In the previous match, the Team Management of the BCB have included spinner Mahedi Hasan instead of experienced all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad.

But Mahedi Hasan conceded very mach runs in his bowling spell.

If the wicket of Chennai acts in favour of spinners, left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed may be included in the squad for today’s matches.

Captain of New Zealand Kane Williamson said, ” The match will be a challenge for us.

It will be an anybody’s game in this (50-over-a-side) format.

There is no doubt that both teams have noted spinners in their squad.

They can play a big role in the tomorrow’s match.”

He said, ” Bangladesh have some match-winners in the sub-continent conditions.

This tournament is such kind of competition that every team have capability to throw challenge.

It is important to perform as a team.

Because it is a long tournament.”
