Accidents claim 1146 lives on Hanif Flyover in 10 years

About 1146 people died and 6,312 injured on Hanif Flyover through accident in last 10 years.
Most of them died in bike accident.
A voluntary research organization ‘Save the Road’ has revealed the information.
They said the source of the information is 21 newspapers (nationally circulated), 22 registered news portal, and different electronic media.
The time frame was for research was 2013 (year of Hanif Flyover inauguration) to October 10, 2023.
Save the Road said from October 11, 2013 to December 31, 2013 about 188 accidents had been occurred on Hanif Flyover where 30 people died and 158 injured.
In 2014 approximately 732 accidents took place and the death toll reached 155 and injured 553.
Following the year in 2015 accidents 759, died 123, injured 568. In 2016 accidents 869, died 158, injured 664.
In 2017 accidents happened 854 where 118 died and 707 injured. In 2018 164 had died, 609 injured in 836 accidents.
Moreover, in the year of 2019 about 844 accidents had been taken place where 116 died and 679 injured.
Then in 2020, 686 about big and small scale accidents had been occurred taking 67 lives and 519 injured.
Furthermore, about 83 people had been died and 660 injured in 824 accidents while 73 died and 627 injured in 765 accidents in 2022.
Till October 10, 2023 about 59 people have been died and 572 injured in 676 accidents.
Save the Road secretary General ShantaFarjana mentioned few reasons for happening accidents on Hanif Flyover like there is no separate lane for bike, poor surveillance system and plying vehicles through high speed denying speed limit.
Save the Road Chairman ZM KamrulAnam said the harsh reality is that 70 per cent bike accidents had been happened obHanif Flyover due to no lane for bike and unconsciousness.
