BNP holds Cumilla-Ctg road march

The main opposition party-BNP- on Thursday warned the ruling Awami League that a decisive and stern movement would be waged in the country if the government does not handover power before the time running short.
“Handover power before time is dying.
If you failed to hand over power in time, the decision will be taken in the street through tougher movement,” BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said while inaugurating the party’s road march from Cumilla to Chattogram.
Mirza Fakhrul said also that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home empty-handed from the United States.
“Sheikh Hasina returned from America empty-handed.
She put in much efforts to cancel the visa policy and get rid of sanctions. They (US) didn’t pay heed to her requests,’ the BNP leader said.
He also said that the people of Bangladesh also did not listen to the prime minister.
The BNP leader, however, urged the prime minister to step down handing over power to a non-party neutral government to pave the way for holding the next national polls a in free, fair and inclusive manner.
Mirza Fakhrul alleged that the government was trying to hold another one-sided election by force to cling to power.
“The people would not let happen another lopsided election in the country.
We want to exercise our right to franchise this time.
You will no longer be allowed to steal votes of the people,” he said.
As parts of the party’s ongoing movement, the leaders, activists and supporters of the BNP started the road march to press home its one-point demand of resignation of the government and holding the next polls under a non-party government.
BNP Secretary General launched the road march on Kalakchua Khandkar Food Gallery ground in Burichong Upazila of Cumilla at around 10:30 am.
The road march ended in Chattogram via Feni and Mirsharai.
“The people of the country know how to remove a dictatorial and usurper government.
That’s why people are now on the streets,’ Mirza Fakhrul said.
