‘Planned urbanisation crucial to attain resilient urban economies’

The World Habitat Day was observed in Sylhet with the theme ‘Sustainable cities drive the growth and recovery of sustainable urban economies’.
A rally and short discussion meeting was organized by BRAC Urban Development Program (UDP) and Sylhet City Corporation on Monday.
The rally ended with a short discussion meeting at the Sylhet City Corporation premises after the circuit of the main main roads of the city. Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer (Acting) and Secretary Fahima Yasmin, Chief Health Officer Dr. Md. Zahidul Islam, Chief Revenue Officer and Executive Magistrate Md. Matiur Rahman Khan, Town Planner Md. Tanvir Rahman were present in the rally and discussion meeting. Mollah, Slum Development Officer Md Abul Fazal (Khokon), BRAC District Coordinator Anik Ahmad Apu, CDO representative, Youth Group members and regional officials of BRAC UDP.

The District Administration including Public Works Department (PWD) arranged a rally and discussion meeting at Collectorate Conference room to observe the World Habitat Day on Monday.
DC in Kishoreganj Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad attended the function as chief guest while ADC(General) Rubel Mahamud in the chair.
It was addressed among others by, Senior journalist Saiful Haque Mollah Dulu, CAB district president Alam Sarowar Tito, BRAC district Manager Shafiul Islam , Chamber of Commerce senior vice president Hafeez Md. Khalequzzaman and Sub -Divisional engineer of PWD.
