2 workers killed by electrocution in Mirpur

Two workers died and three others were injured after being electrocuted in Dhaka’s Mirpur Beribandh area on Tuesday evening.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately, reports The Daily Star.

Mofizur Rahman Palash, Assistant Commissioner of Darussalam zone, said the accident took place around 5:30pm when the workers were erecting iron pipes in Royal City area.

As the iron pipes touched an overhead power line with high voltage, two of them died on the spot while three others suffered critical injuries, he said adding that the injured had parts of their bodies burnt.

Police are probing the incident, the police official also said.
