11 die in mob lynchings in Sept: MSF

Apart from 10 persons dying in prison custody and 11 in mob lynching, at least 41 unidentified bodies were recovered from different parts of the country in September 2023.
According to a report of Manobodikar Sanskhriti Foundation (MSF), most of those bodies have been recovered from canals, rivers, roadsides, bridges and railway lines.
The MSF, in its September 2023 report on human rights situation, provided the said information.
The report has been prepared based on the news published in 12 national dailies of the country. Apart from this, 10 people died in prison custody this month.
Besides, four people were killed by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) firing.
The organisation says that each incident has been verified by local human rights defenders.
Extrajudicial killings, political violence and persecution of minorities continued in September.
Incidents of mass beatings also occurred in this time.
According to the report, there was an incident of impersonation of law enforcement officers in September.
There were two incidents of alleged ‘gunfights’.
Ten people have died in prison custody this month. Seven people have been killed in 11 mob lynchings this month.
There have been 21 cases of political harassment.
Out of this, the police have filed 18 cases and ruling party leaders have filed three cases.
At least 6971 people have been accused in these cases. This month, four Bangladeshis were killed in BSF firing on the border.
Apart from this, there were eight cases of torture of minorities.
Apart from this, 339 incidents of violence against women and children took place in September.
Out of which there were 49 cases of rape, 26 organized rapes, three cases of murder after rape.
Two women were attacked with acid and ten were kidnapped.
