Bangladesh counts 8 more Covid cases in 24hrs, 12 recovered

Bangladesh today reported 8 more COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours till Saturday.

However, no death by the deadly virus was counted during this period.

With the new numbers, the tally of fatalities from COVID-19 has remained at 29,477 and the overall caseload has increased to 2,045,729, reports media.

This information was obtained in a regular press release on COVID sent by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday (September 30).

The press release said that another 12 people recovered from the illness nationwide, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,013,352.

Meanwhile, as many as 754 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 1.06 percent.

The total detection rate since the onset of the epidemic is 13.13 percent.

The latest figures put the recovery rate at 98.42 percent and the mortality rate at 1.44 percent.

Bangladesh registered its highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28 in 2021 and its highest number of fatalities of 264 on August 10 the same year.

Bangladesh has fared much better in managing Covid-19 than many of us had feared we would.

The battle with new variants and breakthrough cases will continue till we reach a critical mass in vaccination.
