BCB announces squad for Asiad cricket

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Thursday the Bangladesh Cricket squad for cricket competition of the 19th Asian Games which is scheduled to be held at Hangzhou in China.

The players, who have been chosen, are: Parvez Hossain, Yasir Ali, Saif Hassan (Captain), Zakir Hasan, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Rakibul Hasan, Mrittunjoy Chowdhury, Sumon Khan, Zakir Ali, Nahid Rana, Ripon Mondol, Hasan Murad, Afif Hossain and Rishad Hossain. The squad left the city for China on Friday to take part in the cricket competition.

The men’s cricket tournament at the Hangzhou Asian Games 2023 is a 14-team affair and started on September 27.

The bronze and gold medal matches will be played on October 7.

The five top-seeded teams – India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan – will directly start their campaigns from the quarter-finals while the remaining nine will start from the group stage, where they have been divided into three groups of three teams each.

The three group winners will join the big five in the top eight stage.

The Indian cricket team is playing in the Asian Games for the first time.
