World’s renowned publishing organisation Elsevier has expressed keen interest in providing necessary assistance in research to the universities of Bangladesh for acquiring desired position in international ranking.
The organisation expressed the desire at a meeting held with UGC Chairman (additional charge) Prof Dr Muhammad Alamgir at his office on Wednesday.
Elsevier’s Senior Account Manager of South Asia Region Faraha Siddiqui presents a research scenario of Bangladesh at the meeting.
She said every year 51,335 research articles are published in Bangladesh.
This number is increasing gradually from 2018.
The research publications were increased by nineteen percent in 2022, she said adding that at that the rate of increase in quality research publications was only two percent .
That’s why the Elsevier wants to contribute to the qualitative development of research in the country, she said.
She also said, around 90 percent of the published research from Bangladesh is published from those institutions that are under UGC. 45 percent of these research articles have published in Q1 journals, which is very promising.
