Hearing on charge framing in Barapukuria case against Khaleda Zia on Dec 3

The Special Judge Court-2 of Dhaka yesterday fixed December 3 for hearing on charge framing in the Barapukuria Coalmine graft case against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and nine others.

The date was announced by Judge Md Akhtaruzzaman of the special court as the defense lawyers pleaded time on Begum Zia’s health ground.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on February 26, 2008, filed the graft case against Khaleda Zia and 15 others with Shahbagh Police Station. ACC Deputy Director Md Abul Kashem Fokir on October 5 of 2008, submitted the charge sheet of the case.

They were accused of causing a loss of about Taka 159 crore to the national exchequer by signing a contract for operation of Barapukuria Coalmine with a Chinese company through alleged abuse of power.
