EC plans workshops with former bosses in Oct

Staff Reporter :
Election Commissioner (EC) Brigadier General (Retd) Ahsan Habib Khan on Sunday said he will hold a workshop on the role of candidates and polling agents with the former chief election commissioner (CEC) and EC in the first week of October.

The workshop is anticipated to be held on October 4 and will involve former chief election commissioners (CEC), election commissioners (EC), senior election commission officials, media personalities, and university professors.

Ahsan Habib Khan emphasised the importance of safeguarding free voting rights, considering them a constitutional and statutory fundamental human right.

He addressed concerns about potential violations of free voting rights due to issues like black money and the influence of muscle power. Allegations of electoral irregularities and rigging have persisted over time, which is deemed undesirable.

To address these challenges, the Election Commission is organising a workshop titled “Free Voting Rights – The Role of Candidates and Polling Agents.”

The workshop will delve into the responsibilities of polling agents in preventing irregularities and rigging during elections and outline the tasks they should perform in accordance with established regulations.
