Cops in robbing man speaks to overall law and order situation in the country

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch has arrested five people, including two suspended police constables, in connection with robbing a man of Tk 20 lakh from the IFIC Bank’s Paltan branch in Dhaka.

The incident took place on 21 September afternoon when an employee of a businessman went to the IFIC Bank branch to deposit Tk 20 lakh.

The man was standing in line to deposit money when two police constables in their uniforms pulled him out of there, snatched the money from him, and fled the scene.

A case has been filed with the Paltan Police Station over the incident.

After scrutinizing the CCTV footage and conducting interrogations, officials from the Paltan Police Station and the DB’s Motijheel zonal team arrested two hawkers – Hridoy and his accomplice Manju over the robbery.

The suspended police constables were tipped off about the money.

They have been arrested with Tk10 lakh in possession by officials of the Demra Police Station.

Later, another man, Sohail, was arrested carrying the remaining Tk10 lakh while riding a motorcycle in the capital’s Bashabo.

Police in robbing people speaks to the overall law and order situation in the country.

Not only police are robbing people, rather businessmen are pick-pocketing consumers, the government wasting loaned money and imposing tax burden on citizens, vehicle owners imposing extra fare, physicians are involved in politics compromising their jobs, engineers are building poor quality construction, who are in chair whatever they are – all are doing the jobs to heaping their pockets.

Due to extreme politicisation, the entire command and control of the discipline force has collapsed, while top police officials are busy securing their own interests no matter what exchange it might take.

All organs of the state and government have been merged with the ruling party’s will and support.

It is hard to separate the government from the ruling party for that entire system becomes destabilized.

The government, bureaucrats, Administration and the police force all are liable to reach this nadir, where accountability and law and order do not exist.
