11 BNP men injured in attack on way to Barishal road march

Eleven activists of BNP were injured in an attack by political rival at Gournadi while started journey to participate the party’s Barishal divisional road march.

Some youth and Chhatra League activists have been accused of beating and injuring 7 leaders of BNP and allied organizations by stopping the Barishal-bound microbus through the barricade at around 8:30 in front of the local bus counter at Gournadi bus stand area on Barishal-Dhaka-Barishal highway on Saturday.

Apart from this, allegations also have been made that 4 more BNP leaders and workers were beaten and injured after attacking Mahilara and Gaynaghat areas of Gournadi.

Among the injured Saidul Alam Sentu, senior joint convenor of Barisal district North Juba Dal, member of convening committee of Gournadi Upazila BNP and former VP KM Anwar Hossain Badal of Govt Gournadi College Student Union has been admitted to 2 private hospitals in Dhaka.

Kamal Parvez, a member of the convening committee of Gournadi Municipal BNP, who was also injured in the attack, complained that 10 leaders and activists of Gournadi BNP and allied organizations left Dhaka for the road march in Barishal at around 6:30 am on Saturday morning.

The microbus carrying the BNP leaders while crossing the Gournadi bus stand area around 9:30 am. At that time, 20-25 activists of Jubo and Chhatra League activists with sticks, GI pipes, Chinese axes barricaded in front of the local bus counter and vandalized the microbus carrying us and attacked the activists.

At that time, the attackers beat and hacked Barishal District North Youth Dal Senior Joint Convener Saidul Alam Sentu, Gournadi Upazila BNP Convening Committee Member and Government Gournadi College Student Union Former VP KM Anwar Hossain Badal, Member Mohiuddin Howladar, Upazila Jubo Dal Convening Committee Member HM Mamun.

Saidur Rahman Fakir, member of Upazila Labor Party, member of Nalchira Union Youth Party. Azizul and me (Member of Urban BNP Convenor Committee Kamal Parvez) were injured.

Meanwhile, on the way to the road march, some Chhatra League activists attacked Mahilara area and upazila Chhatra Dal members Rakib Shikder, Zeeshan, Fahadke and Gaynaghat area and beat up BNP Comi Hukumali Sardar.

General Secretary of Upazila Jubo League Syed Mahabub Alam said, we do not know anything about this.

If any such incident happened, then it could happen due to internal conflict of BNP.
