Assistant Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team Nic Pothas is Interim Head Coach Bangladesh Cricket squad for the upcoming two One Day International (ODI) matches against New Zealand.
The three ODI matches between Bangladesh and New Zealand will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur.
The first ODI will be held on September 21 and the second ODI match will take place on September 23.
The third and last ODI will be held on September 26.
Chairman of the Cricket Operations Committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Jalal Yunus told this Reporter on Tuesday, ” Head Coach of Bangladesh Cricket team Chandika Hathurusingha will not present with Bangladesh Cricket squad in the first two ODI matches due to family reasons. In absence of Hathurusingha, Assistant Coach Nic Pothas will supervise the Bangladesh Cricket squad as the Interim Head Coach during the first two ODI matches.
Hathurusingha will join Bangladesh Cricket squad on September 25.
Then, he will act his duty for Bangladesh Cricket squad.”
The BCB has signed an agreement with Nic Pothas for two years.
The South African 49-year former batter who is now the Assistant Coach of Bangladesh, has seven years experience in coaching.
Meanwhile, The BCB announced recently a fifteen-member Bangladesh ODI squad for the first two ODI matches against New Zealand.
The BCB has given recess to Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam and many other cricketers.
Bangladesh squad (for 1st & 2nd ODIs): Litton Das (Captain), Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Anamul Haque Bijoy, Tawhid Hridoy, Mahmudullah Riyad, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Zakir Hasan, Rishad Hossain and Khaled Ahmed.
