Bangladesh contingent will leave Hangzhou of China to take part in the 19th Asian Games for achieve a good result.
A total of 240 members of Bangladesh contingent including athletes, coaches and managers will participate in 17 disciplines of the meet.
Footballer Sabina Khatun and chess player Niaz Murshed will bear the flag of Bangladesh during the march past of the inaugural ceremony of the 19th Asian Games, which is scheduled to be held at Hangzhou of China from September 23 to October 8.
The seventeen disciplines are: Archery, Athletics, Boxing, Bridge, Chess, Cricket (Men’s) & (Women’s), Fencing, Football (Men’s) & (Women’s), Golf, Gymnastics, Hockey (Men’s), Kabaddi (Men’s) & (Women’s), Karate, Shooting, Swimming, Taekwondo and Weightlifting.
Bangladesh achieved gold medal in the Cricket Competition (Men’s) of 16th Asian games, collected silver medal in Cricket Competition (Women’s) and gained bronze medal in Kabaddi Competition (Women’s).
Bangladesh bagged silver medal in Cricket Competition (Women’s) of 17th Asian Games, claimed bronze medal in Cricket Competition (Men’s) and earned bronze medal in Kabaddi Competition (Women’s).
Marking the upcoming 19th Asian Games, a press conference was held at the Dutch-Bangla Bank Auditorium of Bangladesh Olympic Association Bhaban on Sunday. Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Syed Shahed Reza disclosed all the matters to the journalists.
Chef de Mission of Bangladesh Contingent Brigadier General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, Treasurer of Bangladesh Olympic Association AK Sarkar and Member Secretary of the Media Committee of BOA Siarjuddin Mohammad Alamgir were present at the conference.
“We’re going to participate in the Asian Games with the best possible teams ever than before.
Archery and shooting disciplines have been under the training round the year and the athletes of the two disciplines took part different international events… We also hope good result from cricket…. So, we can expect positive result from these disciplines,” said the BOA Secretary.
