7 arrested over cutting off youth’s wrist in Dhaka

The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested seven members of a youth terrorist gang, including Rafat, Tushar and Ahmed, who went viral on the social media after cutting the wrist of a youth in the capital’s Mohammadpur area.

The RAB claimed that the young man’s wrist was cut offdue to previous enmity.

The RAB said that they were arrested from Bagerhat district and Mohammadpur areaof the capital on Friday night (September 8).

Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of RAB’s media wing, gave this information at a press conference organized at Kawran Bazar media center of the force on Saturday noon.

He said that several terrorist groups have been carrying out various types of activities including robbery and extortion in Mohammadpur area of the capital since long.

In these incidents, several general diaries and cases were filed with different police stations of the capital.

On August 27, a terrorist group cut off the wrist of a young man named Arman in Mohammadpur area and recorded a video of him and made it viral on the social media platforms.

In that incident, the victim himself filed a case of attempted murder with the Mohammadpur police station.

RAB started investigation after the case.On Friday night, elite force raided the Mohammadpur area of the capital and arrested the suspect Ahmed Khan (22), Md.Hasan alias Guti Hasan (24), Md.Hanif Hossain Joy (24), Ramzan (23), Md. Raju (19).

Later, according to the information given by the arrestees, the RAB arrested Rafidul Islam Rana alias Rafat (23), Tushar Howladar (23) from Bagerhat.
