Akhinur’s dream of being independent comes true

A simple housewife Akhinur (36) lives in Daogaon, a very small and remote village of Daogaon Union at Muktagacha Upazila in Mymensingh.

Her husband Rafiqul Islam left the world after the birth of thrud girl child.

Her elder daughter Naushin (11) is a registered child of World Vision Bangladesh, whose ID is 6903 and is a 6th standard student.

2nd daughter Sadia (7) is a 2nd class student.

After the death of my husband, she used to live in a small hut with children and has been working in other’s house.

Akhinur told that her husband used to earn Rs 150-200 daily while alive and not more than fifteen days in a month that she cwas also unabled to feed the children food at least three times a day.

The family has only 6 centuries of land which is homestead area.

There was no arable land. Akhinur’ s family is a very poor family and is covered by World Vision’s ultra-poor graduation model in fiscal year 2021.

Later, he received training in homestead vegetable gardening, confidence building sessions and dairy cow husbandry.

After the training at Muktagacha Upazila received a cow and various vegetable seeds through UPG Project model from South AP.

Currently, he cultivates vegetables year-round in his homestead area, using knowledge and skills to raise chickens, pigeons, goats and cows.

He took vegetable cultivation training and started vegetable cultivation by collecting seeds from World Vision Bangladesh Muktagacha South AP.

With the firstsavings of Tk 800, he started raising 5 chickens.

Later, she raised 12 chickens and sold them at a price of Tk 3500.

Now he has 10 more chickens worth Tk 1500. He also kept 12 pigeons in his house.

He bought a sewing machine with money from selling chickens, pigeons and vegetables.

Later, he has been earning Tk1500 to Tk 2000 per month by working with local training. He got a calf he got from the Organisation.

Now the price of cow including calf was Tk 71,000. His average daily income from selling cow’s milk, eggs, baby pigeons, vegetables is now Tk 250.

Recently Akhinur bought two goats with his saved money.

In addition, the land was mortgaged with the money saved by selling cow’s milk, eggs, vegetables.

The rice he gets from this mortgaged land provides him with half a year’s worth of food.

She and her family members can easily eat vegetables grown in their homestead area.

He dreams of starting a chicken farm with 100-150 chickens in the near future.

The poor now indepoendent simple widow is very grateful to Muktagacha South AP, World Vision Bangladesh, that has played a vital role to protect her family in difficult circumstances.

Now, she is the best examnple for many.
