Arrest warrant issued against Bangladeshi singer Momtaz in India
Entertainment Report :
An arrest warrant has been issued again against Bangladesh’s popular folk singer and Member of the Parliament Momtaz Begum in Murshidabad, India.
Indian news media Anandabazar said that
this warrant has been issued in the case of breach of contract and fraud.
In this case, three arrest warrants were issued against Momtaz.
Then she appealed to the High Court seeking exemption from the case.
But that application was rejected. According to the order of the court, Momtaz will have to appear in person on September 8.
According to the Anandabazar report, Momtaz was supposed to appear in the Chief Judicial Court of Murshidabad on August 9.
On August 8, the court informed by sending a notice that the charge of Momtaz’s case will be formed in the magistrate’s court.
If Momtaz does not appear on that day, an arrest warrant will be issued against her.
After that, Momtaz submitted an application through the Bangladesh High Commission and said that at that time she would be in Canada for an event.
As a result, it will not be possible for her to appear in court at that time.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Mushidabad rejected the application and issued an arrest warrant against Momtaz.
The report also said that from 2004 to 2008 in Murshibabad, Momtaz had a written agreement with Shakti Shankar Bagchi, the official of the organizing agency, to perform music at various events.
According to that agreement, Momtaz regularly participated in Shakti Shankar’s various events.
Artiste Momtaz was supposed to give 14 lakh rupees in a ceremony in Murshidabad in December 2008.
This is why she took money in advance. But in the end, Momtaz did not attend the ceremony.
After that, Shakti Shankar filed a case against Momtaz in the Murshidabad Magistrate’s Court, alleging fraud and breach of contract, and then based on that the court subsequently issued the summons.
