‘US-BD share robust economic partnership’

The economic ties between the United States and Bangladesh have reached new heights, with their trade relationship now valued at a staggering $14 billion, and the trajectory is upwards.

At the forefront of this robust economic partnership is the garment sector, which has played a pivotal role in Bangladesh’s remarkable economic growth, contributing to over 75% of U.S. imports.

This thriving collaboration has not only driven economic prosperity but has also led to the creation of over a million jobs in Bangladesh.

With Bangladesh now ranking as the second largest global supplier of garments and the third largest supplier to the United States, the future of this dynamic relationship is promising.

The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh, took to its official Facebook page to share this information, emphasising the significance of this flourishing economic alliance.

“The United States and Bangladesh have a $14 billion trade relationship and it is growing! The garment sector has been a key driver of economic growth for Bangladesh over the past few decades, accounting for over 75% of U.S. imports,” it read.

Over the past few decades, the Bangladeshi garment sector has emerged as an economic powerhouse, propelling the nation’s growth and development.

It has seamlessly integrated into the global supply chain, and the United States has become a pivotal market for Bangladeshi garment exports.

This partnership transcends mere economic statistics; it has also brought about significant social change by creating more than a million employment opportunities within Bangladesh.

“This dynamic economic partnership has created a million jobs in Bangladesh,” it said.

It further said that Bangladesh’s remarkable success in the garment sector has earned it the esteemed title of the world’s second largest supplier of garments.

Furthermore, it ranks as the third largest supplier of garments to the United States, showcasing the pivotal role it plays in the American fashion and retail landscape.

“Bangladesh ranks as the second largest global supplier of garments and the third largest supplier of garments to the United States. Join us as we look inside the garment industry,” it read.

As this trade partnership continues to gain momentum, both countries are eager to explore new avenues for collaboration and growth.
