Seven Kishoreganj men get life term for killing

A court in Kishoreganj on Tuesday sentenced seven people, including six members of the same family to life imprisonment in the case of the murder of a farmer named Riton in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj
The Additional District & Sessions Judge Fatema Jahan Swarna of Court-3 gave this order on Tuesday.
Public Prosecutor ( PP) of Kishoreganj Advocate Md. Farook Sanju confirmed the truth of the verdict and said that at that time six other accused were present in the court except the 1st accused Nazrul.
The convicts are Nazrul (45), Khokon (47), Sattar (42), Bakul (44) and daughter Champa Akhtar (42) of deceased Matiur Rahman of Khalishakhali village of Pakundia Upazila Sukhia Union.
Apart from this, Nazrul’s wife Rahima Khatun (32) and Mohammad Syed (57), son of Maku Mia of Thutarjungal village of the same union have been sentenced.
According to Case Diary (CD), On November 23, 2016, in Khalishakhali village under Sukhia Union of Pakundia Upazila, there was a verbal dispute with the defendants over the cutting of trees in the boundary of the house.
At one point, they beat Riton Miah and seriously injured him. Later neighbors rescued him with serious injuries and took him to Kishoreganj 250 bed General Hospital. The duty doctors declared Riton dead.
On the day of the incident, Salma Akhtar, the wife of the deceased, filed a murder case at Pakundia police station accusing seven people as the plaintiff.
About a year after the case, on October 19, 2017, the then investigating officer Pakundia Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md. Sarwar Jahan submitted the charge sheet in the court
