Tk 189cr incentive to boost 10 crops production in winter

Ministry of Agriculture has allocated Tk 188.49 crore in the current fiscal year to boost the cultivation and the production of 10 crops in Rabi season.

The incentive will be disbursed from the agriculture rehabilitation support, seed and saplings division under the Agriculture Ministry’s regular budget, the ministry said in a press release on Monday.

According to the release, the 10 crops included are wheat, corns, mustard, sunflower, peanut, soybean, winter onion, Mug bean, red gram and grass pea.

Under the incentives, a total of 19,53,700 small and marginal farmers
from 64 districts will receive free fertilizer and seeds.

Farmer will get the incentive for cultivating any one of crops out of 10.

Under the incentive a farmer will get 20kg wheat seeds, 2kg corns seeds, 1kg mustard or sunflower seed, 10kg peanut seed, 8kg soybean seed, 1kg winter onion, 1kg mug bean or red gram seed, 8kg grass pea and fertilizer free of cost.

The distribution of the incentives will start in field level soon, said the circular.
