RAB arrests Hizb-ut-Tahrir top leader in capital

The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a top leader of banned militant organisation Hizb-ut-Tahrir from the capital’s Mohammad-pur on Sunday.

The arrestee has been identified as Abdul Baten, 60, was a fugitive accused in four cases.

RAB-2 Assistant Director (Media) ASP Shihab Karim confirmed the matter to the media on Monday.

He said accused Baten is an active member of dawati and finance department of Hizb-ut-Tahrir.

He was engaged in promoting militant books in different parts of the country including capital city, and encouraging the young people to join militancy.

The RAB official also said that legal proceedings have been taken against the accused.
