Journalist gets death threats

Staff Reporter  :
A journalist has received death threats allegedly from the followers of Rajarbag Peer (saint) Dillur Rahman after broadcasting a report.

The victim, Farah Bilkis, senior report at Nagorik Television, filed a General Diary (GD) with Hatijheel Police Station on August 29 regarding the issue.

According to the GD, on August 23 and 24, she broadcast a report on Rajarbagh Peer Dillur Rahman and his followers.

While making that report, the followers of Rajarbagh Peer stopped her and her team from taking the footage.

The followers also visited her office (Nagorik TV) so that the report could not be broadcast.

The followers also asked her not to broadcast the report through Whatsapp, according to the GD.

Besides, her Facebook account was hacked soon after the report was published. Since then, the peer’s followers are constantly threatening her.

Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), Law Reporters Forum (LRF), and some other journalist organizations have condemned and protested the threats from peer followers to the journalist.
