Mobile court seized fake band cigarette rolls, four jailed

Four people were sentenced to jail for 7 to 15 days and factory was shut on Saturday by a mobile court for manufacturing cigarettes by using fake band roll labels on cigarette packets for long.

A team of the Rapid Action Battalion-11 raided Royal Tobacco factory at Siddhirganj of Narayanganj at the afternoon.

Executive magistrate of Narayanganj district administration, Arafat Mohammad Noman, led the raid.

He said that the government is being deprived of huge amount of revenue from such illicit cigarette factories.

Noman said that the factory owner Masum Billah was not in the factory and remained fugitive.

‘We have destroyed the seized illicit cigarettes and band rolls.

Three workers of the factory were sentenced for 15 days each in jail and another were for seven days in jail,’ said Noman.
