Manikchari DC Park : An attractive tourist spot

DC Park at Manikchari, the gateway to Khagrachhari, is being developed as a nature-friendly attractive tourist destination.

Nature has been given importance in developing the park in an area of about 160 acres. 22 hills and 3 lakes will satisfy the thirst of tourists.

Tented buses are also available inside the park. Nature lovers can also spend the night here.

In addition to staying in tents, overnight stays can also be done at Aranya Kuti Resort.

Anyone standing at the park’s twilight point will be mesmerized by the sunset view.

Already, 20 acres of forest land in DC Park has been declared a bird sanctuary.

Bird friendly tree saplings have been planted. Initiatives have been taken to protect the wildlife and birds that grow naturally inside the park.

This is the first bird sanctuary of Khagrachhari district.

Along with the forest cock, the rare Mathura is also seen here. Environmentalists have also welcomed such nature-friendly tourism.

Mahfuz Rasel, founder of the nature-friendly organization Pitachra Wildlife and Nature Conservation Initiative, said,
“This is a wonderful initiative.”

Because it is trying to bring back the biodiversity here. Along with this, the tourism industry will also develop. One hundred species of native trees are being planted here.

Among which there are rare species of trees. If these plants grow, it will be safe for birds. It will be a model of nature-friendly tourism.

Manikachari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Raktim Chowdhury said that since it is surrounded by forested hills and lakes, there is a plan to install a watch tower here.

Apart from camping, resorts will also be constructed for the overnight stay of visiting tourists.

The road is in the process of being renovated to facilitate access to the park.
