‘Hok Kolorob’ lyricist, Rajib Ashraf dies

Popular Bangladeshi lyricist and filmmaker Rajib Ashraf died. His elder brother, Ashraful AaamBabu, confirmed that Rajib died at DhakaMedical College Hospital yesterday morning.
Rajib Ashraf’s artistic contributions have left an indelible mark on the Bangladeshi music and film industry.
He was widely known for hiscollaborations with the popular singer Arnob,penning lyrics for several hit songs thatresonated with music lovers across the country.
Some of these tracks include ‘Hok Kolorob’, ‘Naam Chhilo Na’, ‘Prokrito Jol’, ‘Ghum’, ‘Dhushor Megh’,’Rod Bolechhe Hobe’, ‘Prtoddhoni’, ‘Ekta Meye’and ‘Mon Kharaper Ekta Bikel’.
Rajib Ashraf has also written songs for almost all telefilms produced by mobile phone company Airtel.
Some hit songs include ‘Jolkona Ure Jay’, ‘BhalobashiTai Bhalobeshe Jai’ and ‘Jajabor Pakhna’.
The lyricist also made his mark in the advertising world, crafting jingles for brands, such as Banglalink, Mojo, Seven Up, and even Channel One’s theme song, ‘Sombhabonar Duar’, in collaboration with Habib.
Rajib Ashraf was also recognised for his workin commercials and documentary filmmaking.
He created a documentary for the Bangladesh Games. Not only writing, Rajib Ashraf has alsoacted in dramas and telefilms.
His notableappearances include roles in productions, such as Ashutosh Sujon’s ‘Tiner Tolowar’, Animesh Aich’s ‘Holud’, Nurul Alam Atique’s ‘Mojider Television’ and Amitabh Reza’s ‘Ekta Phone Kora Jabe Please’.
