Chinese citizens sent to jail for rapping

Two persons including a Chinese citizen were sent to the jail on Tuesday on the charge of raping a college student in the capital.

They suspects have been identified as Ji Chen, 58, and his accomplice Hira Chakma, 25.

Uttara West Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Masud Alam confirmed the matter to the media.

Police arrested them from Uttara’s Sector-16 on Sunday night after the student filed a case with Uttara Paschim Police Station of the capital.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Ahmed of Dhaka CMM Court today rejected Ji Chen’s bail petition.

According to police, the victim alleged that the Chinese national Ji Chen raped her by promising her of marrying and will take her to China.

Bangladeshi citizen (female) Hira Chakma was an accomplice in the rape incident.

As per the allegation, on August 27, Ji Chen and Hira Chakma took the victim to a coffee shop after the incident.

There, the victim sought help from another woman. Later, the woman reported the matter to the police and consequently, the girl was rescued and the two were arrested.
