Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal has continued his solo practice session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur and BCB-NCA Ground.
He took part his solo batting practice at the BCB-NCA Ground on Monday.
Tamim Iqbal had been suffering from back pain for a couple of months. After that, He went to London, the capital city of England for medical treatment.
He took two or three injections there and then returned to Dhaka.
After returning Dhaka, he took a week-long recess.
After that he participated in the skill programme and fitness programme.
A few days ago, he took part in the net session and then batted at least 20 minutes.
Yesterday he did batting full-fledged at the net in the BCB-NCA Ground.
The 34-year-old left-hand opener last played in a One Day International match against Afghanistan on July 5, 2023.
He played in that match though he had injury in his back.
Later, Tamim Iqbal steeped down from his captaincy.
The southpaw withdrew his decision after he called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
But after some days, he announced that he would not continue his captaincy.
Tamim Iqbal led Bangladesh ODI Cricket team for at least two years.
Bangladesh ODI Cricket team showed a satisfactory performance under his captaincy.
Bangladesh showed an outstanding performance in the ICC ODI Super League.
Bangladesh finished third in the ICC ODI Super League.
Thus, Bangladesh will play in the upcoming ICC World Cup scheduled to be held in India from October 5 without playing in the World Cup Qualifiers.
Tamim Iqbal was not included in the Bangladesh ODI squad for imminent Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Asia Cup due to injury.
Tamim Iqbal has been working to be fit to play in the forthcoming ICC World Cup.
Tamim said to a local website, ” My condition is almost okay.
I don’t feel any serious pain.
I am working with the physiotherapist of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
I think I am going through the right path.”
The dashing opener is the highest scorer of Bangladesh in ODI cricket.
Tamim Iqbal scored 8313 runs playing 241 ODI matches.
His highest score is 158 with an average of 36.62.
He struck 14 centuries and 56 half-centuries and his strike rate is 78.54.
