GNI appoints Muzahidul Islam from Bangladesh

The Global Network Initiative (GNI) that has been playing roles to protect and promote freedom of expression and privacy rights in the ICT sector has recently chosen Muhammad Muzahidul Islam, a Lawyer at the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, as an independent expert member in its Academic constituency.

All the giant companies of ICT sector including Meta (Facebook), Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, Zoom, Nokia, Ericson, Telenor are members of GNI.

Mr. Islam joined GNI in its academic constituency where nine top universities namely Oxford, Harvard, University of California and fifteen prominent experts are members.

Mr. Islam will work in collaboration with them to contribute to set global standards in the ICT sector to protect and promote freedom of expression and privacy rights.

Thirty five famous international organizations including Human Rights Watch (Nobel peace prize winner in 1997), Freedom House are also members.GNI is headquartered in Washington DC.

Mr. Islam is a human rights lawyer, human rights activist and an independent researcher.

He has four academic qualifications in law.

He had studied international law and human rights at undergraduate and graduate levels.

He obtained LL.B (Hons) from University of London.

He completed a Bar Vocational Course (Postgraduate Diploma) from Inns of Court School of Law, City University, London.

He obtained LL.B (Hons) and LL.M from University of Rajshahi.

And he earned Barrister-at-Law from the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, London.
