Members of Bangladesh Cricket squad reached Sri Lanka on Sunday to take part in the upcoming Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Asia Cup.
Prolific all-rounder Litton Das could not go to Sri Lanka as he has been suffering from fever for a few days.
If everything goes well he will go to Sri Lanka soon.
Uncapped Tanzim Hasan Sakib could not go with the squad due to complications of ticket.
He will join the squad today.
Before leaving the city, right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed spoke to the journalists.
He said, “Obviously we want to become the champions but the main thing is to play better brand of cricket before the imminent World Cup.
If we can play our best cricket it will be possible to emerge the champions in this meet.”
Bangladesh will take on host Sri Lanka in their opening game of the Asia Cup on August 31 at Pallekele then the Tigers will fly to Pakistan for their second group stage match against Afghanistan.
A total of six teams splitting into two groups will take part in the first phase of the ACC Asia Cup.
India Pakistan, Nepal are in Group-A, while Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan are in Group-B.
The group phase of the cricket competition will be held in single league basis.
Top two teams from each group will play in the ‘Super Four’.
Top two teams from ‘ Super Four’ will play in the final.
The final will be held in Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka on September 17.
All the matches are Day/ Night affairs and the matches will be held in 50-over-a-side.
Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in their first Group-A match at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka on August 31.
The match will start at 3.30pm (Bangladesh Standard Time).
Before taking part in the first match, Bangladesh Cricket squad will get three days to take part in the practice sessions.
After the first match, Bangladesh Cricket squad will fly for Pakistan.
Bangladesh will play against Afghanistan in their second Group-B match at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore of Pakistan on September 3.
The match will begin at 3.30pm.
Before this ACC Asia Cup Bangladesh could not clinch the Asia Cup title.
Bangladesh reached the final for three times.
Bangladesh had to be satisfied with runners-up trophy in the Asia Cup.
Most painful thing was Bangladesh lost to Pakistan in a thrilling two-run defeat in the final, which was held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Bangladesh in the year of 2012.
